A Beautiful New Blog (new to me at least)

Last night at 10:10 a bad storm blew through. I should have been anticipating it, because earlier in the day I jinxed myself. I was watering my flowers, and I patted myself on the back, and thought "I should have my house in a magazine, because my flowers look unbelievable this year"....well, Mother Nature heard me, and for some unknown reason, it upset her. A massive storm blew through town. Fortunately we were on the edge of the storm, so we weren't hit as hard as other areas. All of my flowers are gone, beat to the ground by the hail, the turret on our house is roofed in copper, and it too was damaged. Other areas had broken windows, and downed trees, so I know I got by lucky!! One of my husbands businesses was damaged pretty badly, but we are insured, so I guess it isn't so bad. On the plus side, I spent the day browsing the Internet, looking for eye candy. I hit the jackpot with a blog called Over the Top Designs....... You have got to stop by and check it out. Amada might be one of the most talented people around. Her attention to detail is phenomenal. She said she didn't mind if I showed a few pictures of some of her work, so grab a cup of tea, and prepare to be dazzled.
The wedding cake toppers are truly works of Art.

I hope that you enjoyed your visit.

Have a lovely day, and don't forget to check out Over the Top Studios, and tell Amada that Valarie sent you.

P.S. Tammy at Tinsel and Company is having a wonderful giveaway. Hope on over and leave her a comment, and don't forget to tell her Valarie is the one who sent you.

Pink Playroom

Happy Pink Saturday!! Once again the lovely Beverly has included me in this fun day. I decided that since I showed off my Pink Room last week, I should show you the closet in that room!! We turned it into a very cute little play area for the Grand babies. I still need to wallpaper, and add some decor, but it's pretty darn cute. You can see that the table is all set with pink princess dishes.
The refrigerator holds plenty of goodies for the kids to "eat"...
I love the retro look of the stove/sink!
The picture above the piano was made by my Grandpa!! (If you click on the picture you can see all the detail of the stitch work that he did)...
What playroom would be complete without a grand piano??
My Grandma made me this rug when I was 7 years old. I think it's held up quite nicely over the years.
Be sure and stop by Beverly at How Sweet the Sound and visit the other wonderful participants.

I hope you have a lovely day. xxoo Valarie

Pink Saturday

This is my first post for "Pink Saturday" put on by the wonderful Beverly. I decided to share with you pictures of my spare bedroom. It is a work in progress, so there are a few changes I will still be making, but you will get the idea. I LOVE pink. It is my very favorite color. I am the proud Mom of 2 sons, so Pink was never a color that I used in my decorating...until my sons moved out. I converted my babies room into a pink oasis. (When he moved home from college, he was shocked at the room, and moved into our guest house. Now, maybe if I convert that into a pink palace he will get his own place. hehe ) I don't love the toile bedspread, and the dust ruffle is waay to short, but I'm not done making the one I have in mind. I will share pics when it is done. I recovered an old bench that we had, it was very ugly, and I think the pink silk with black fringe is nice.
I thought the mirrored makeup table looked nice. I have it covered with my many treasures. You can see where I tufted the bottom half of the silk covered walls.
This is a close up of the wallpaper. I covered the top half of the walls in the wallpaper, and then padded the bottom half, and covered it in the pink and white checked silk, I then tufted the walls and added buttons. I love the finished look.

For a headboard, I used black velvet, and then added the silk ribbons and buttons. You can't tell from the pictures, but it is tufted also. I love it. This is the view from the turret in the room. When we were remodeling I told my husband that if we had a Turret our house would look like a castle, so he had the builder put on a turret. It looks amazing from the outside, and the inside.
Another view of the sitting area in the turret. I still need to add a curtain to the door, but haven't had time. I also need a couple of nice rugs, I guess I had better go shopping. hehe I hope you enjoyed your tour of my pink room.
Have a lovely day,

I Won, I Won!!

I was so excited to find out that I had won a giveaway from the talented Vivian! If you haven't seen her blog, you must hop on over and check it out. The pincushion is even cuter in person. The tiny little bear that sits on top of a flower petal is just over an inch tall. It's hard to believe she made the pincushion, it is so sweet. It truly is the sweetest thing I have seen. I LOVE IT!! Thank you Vivian, you are such a sweet friend! Have a lovely day - xxoo Valarie

Princess Crown

I just wanted to share with you a crown and box that I made for a charity auction. I thought it turned out very sweet. The box was covered in sheet music, and it says "OOH LA LA" on it. I used lots of german glass glitter on the box, along with silver tinsel, seam binding, crepe paper, lovely flowers, Dresden Trim, and of coarse Ballerinas.
The crown fit perfectly inside the box for safe keeping.
Of coarse the crown said "Princess" on it. I thought it was pretty good for my first attempt at a crown. I had purchased a kit from Gabriela Delworth, and used it as a pattern. It was very fun to make.

Chocolates from Paris

My niece Bailee and her best friend Cassie are posing in my craft room with Laduree Chocolates from Paris!!! Cassie went to London and Paris for 12 days, and she brought me home a present. They are two of the sweetest girls you could meet. I love them to death. The package that the chocolates came in is soo beautiful, I had to take a picture. I wish I could have gotten a close up of the box, it is sooo pretty.
The chocolates have edible gold glitter on them, and I cannot wait to try one.

Cassie, you are so sweet, just like my chocolates, Thank you for remembering me with this unbelievable treat. I love ya girl.
Have a lovely day,
